September 29- Psalm 23:1-2a

9-29-10

THE VERSE

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.
~Psalm 23:1-2a

THE THOUGHT

God is the God of comfort. He is our hiding place, our Rock and Refuge, our shelter in storms, our protection in trial. He is waiting to shelter us under His wing, hold us in His arms, and surround us with His love. In fire and water, He is there. In the trials that always come our way, He is there. When God allows things into our lives to refine us through fire and bring us to Himself, He is still there with us through the testing. But how do we find this comfort in adversity? For many of us, we have not felt the touch of God in tragedy. What is wrong? I think that our problem is not that God is not here, for we know that He is always here. Our problem is that we aren't letting Him do what He wants to. Our worry is not just what God wants to remove; our worry is what is keeping God from giving us peace. Worry can be defined as a lack of faith in God. Trust Him- He knows what He is doing. Seek after Him- that's what He wants you to do. Love Him- He wants you to experience His love. And about all, pray. Pray, pray, pray. The worse life gets, the more you need to pray.

THE PRAYER

Holy Spirit, Restore my soul. You are the only One who can give me peace when the world falls apart. Rain down on me Your soothing comfort; lead me beside still waters. Let me rest in the assurance of Your promises, and be satisfied and content in Your love.
