THE VERSE
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.~Philippians 4:19-20
THE THOUGHT
It is fitting to end our study of Philippians with all these amazing promises. “I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.” “My God will supply EVERY need of yours.” There is no question here, no need to wonder, no room for doubt. What the promise says is this: For those in Christ Jesus, there is absolutely no need that will not be covered by the riches of His glory. You will never have an unmet need in your life. Wow.To truly get into the depths of the good news here, we need to think a little. As comfortable Western Christians, we rarely get close to this promise economically. Our lives are filled with things we don’t need, and even the things we think we do need, most of the world comfortably goes without. But we can trust fully that God will always give us what we need to live, and live for Him, in this life.
Most importantly, God has met our need for salvation. Without the cross, every other need would be meaningless. Our lives could be full of everything we could possibly need, but we would still be condemned, under His wrath, and awaiting judgment. But at the cross, God has met our greatest need and has given us Himself—all we will ever need forever.
THE PRAYER
Dear God, Your riches in glory are all my hope. Your glory in meeting my physical needs gives me hope for the future. Your glory in salvation is my own hope of glory. I love Your promise that You are able to make all grace abound, so that I will have all sufficiency in all things at all times to abound in every good work.EXTENDED READING
