THE VERSE
He answered, "I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out."~Luke 19:40
THE THOUGHT
Today, if we had ears to hear, we would hear all of creation bursting with the joy of its Creator. The heavens declare the glory of God; the sky is shouting at us today that there is a King who is glorious and beautiful and powerful beyond our imagination. Even the rocks under our feet tremble with the exuberance of God's glory. The trees clap their hands, the oceans pound out His praise. All around us, every tree and flower and bird exists for and is singing His song.It is a sad irony, then, that the only ones in all creation that are not joining the song are those who were created most particularly to show and savor His glory: us. The purpose of the stars and the purpose of your life are identical; we were made to declare the glory of God. And yet we are deaf to His song and blind to His beauty, and we go about our lives so absorbed in ourselves that we miss the drama of creation that is unfolding all around us. Every moment the world around us is whispering for us to join the song, to make melody with our hearts, to fulfill the purpose for which we, too, were created.
Today, purpose in your heart to join the song that you were made for. Let us, who have infinite and eternal reasons to praise, drown out the rocks with our lips and with our lives, singing our own songs of glad hosannas, "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain!"
THE PRAYER
Holy Spirit, Help me today to join the song I was made for. Tune my heart to sing of Your grace, Your love, Your faithfulness. Jesus, You have bought me with Your blood and forgiven all of my sins; worthy is the Lamb who was slain! Father, You have never left me nor forsaken me; great is Your faithfulness! Help me to sing with my life today.EXTENDED READING
