THE VERSE
I will shake all nations, and the desired of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD Almighty.~Haggai 2:7
THE THOUGHT
Have you ever wondered about all those Christmas hymns that talk about "the Desire of nations?" Hark, the Herald Angels Sing: "Come, Desire of nations, come / Fix in us Thy humble home." O Come, O Come Emmanuel: "O Come, Desire of nations, bind / In one the hearts of all mankind." Angels From The Realms of Glory: "Sages, leave your contemplations / Brighter visions beam afar / Seek the great Desire of nations / Ye have seen His natal star." That phrase comes from Haggai 2:7, a prophecy of the coming Christ. Jesus is the Desire of nations, the hoped-for and long awaited Savior of the world. He came that first Christmas with veiled glory but soon will come again with power to shake the nations and usher in the kingdom of God. He is coming again with flaming fire and brilliant glory to rend the skies and bring relief to those who are waiting for Him.In this Christmas season, is Jesus, the Desire of nations, the desire of your heart? Are you eagerly waiting for Him, longing for His presence? Is He the center of your holiday?
