November 29- Hebrews 13:8

THE VERSE

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
~Hebrews 13:8

THE THOUGHT

If Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever, one aspect of that unchanging constancy must be His never-wavering commitment to His people. Consider His works of yesterday and times past: how He delivered you with His blood and set His Spirit upon you. Consider His works of today: how He sustains and keeps you. Consider His works of tomorrow and eternity: how He is preparing a heavenly home of eternal joy for you.

If this is the character of our God, then the character of our faith should reflect such truth. Can one truly long for the heaven of tomorrow without treasuring the cross of yesterday? Can one really claim to believe the past work of God while doubting His present activity? If the work and character of Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever, then the work and character of our faith should be this: amazement at His past work, acceptance of His present work, and anticipation of His future work. This is a full and God-pleasing faith.

THE PRAYER

Jesus, You are always the same and You never change. You are always faithful, always true, always loving, always holy, always good. Grant me an unchanging faith to reflect Your unchanging faithfulness.
