THE VERSE
Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.~1 John 3:2
THE THOUGHT
"When He appears we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is." One sight of Jesus Christ in all His glory will be enough to forever banish all our sin, for to see Jesus is to be changed. Seeing and knowing Jesus Christ is what defeats sin. The lifelong process of sanctification will be completed in the twinkling of an eye as soon we see Him as He is.In the same way, though in this life we see Him as through a mirror darkly, yet the fight for holiness is still a fight to see. 2 Corinthians 3:18 reminds us that "we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of gory to another." The fight to be transformed and conformed to the image of Christ is a fight to see Him. We must strive to see Him in His Word, to see Him in His works, to seek Him in prayer, to pray to have "the eyes of our hearts enlightened" by the Holy Spirit. Beholding is becoming, and the fight to become like Jesus is a daily fight to behold Him.
THE PRAYER
Lord, Please reveal Yourself to me. Open Your Word to me so that I can see Your glory there. Fill my heart with Calvary so that I become enthralled with the glory of Your grace revealed there. Open the eyes of my heart so that I can know You better. Help me see, so that I can be more like You.EXTENDED READING
